Our Story

Blue Sun was first conceptualized amidst a global pandemic between two neighbors. Tyler’s passion for brewing contrasted with Kristin’s execution and creativity provided the perfect blend to brew small batch kombucha. The partners began attending farmers markets and sold their kombucha in several local restaurants and pubs. They developed excellent kombucha and instantly integrated their business into their community. 

Soon enough, their vision for the future of Blue Sun began to expand far beyond brewing kombucha. When the pieces of a larger scale operation began to fall into place, they knew they were ready to share much more than their kombucha with Eastern Iowa. Their next venture would take on brewing craft beer, developing an artisanal food and beverage menu, and most importantly — providing a third space to be enjoyed by people in and outside of our community.

As we began to design Blue Sun Brewing Co, we maintained a focus on curating a warm and inclusive space with a flavor-forward menu. Our made-from-scratch dishes and crafted beverages will balance comfort with innovation.

We are creating a home for our family, friends, and future friends.
Oh, and we also have pretty good beer.
